Projects

Raleigh Medical Group- GI

The most exciting part of my internship was the relocation project of one of Alpheon's biggest customers, Raleigh Medical Group. This project enabled me to gain both technical skills and people skills. As far as technical skills, I learned how to configure a VLAN (Virtual Area Network) and about Voice over IP. I also learned how to interact with customers. I was onsite the day of the install working with the networking equipment and RMG employees to get everything working properly. I had to learn how to get my work done, while remembering what everyone had asked me to do. Also, I had to make sure that I was supposed to do what some RMG employees wanted me to do. Although, the installation was a lot of work, it was still fun. I got to interact with customers, install the equipment and work with my hands. It was defiantly the best part of my internship.

Photo Documentation for the Support Center

The support center needed a way to see the equipment they were trying to troubleshoot. The technicians that go on-site usually take pictures to relay back to the support center, but the pictures were stored with the support information and were not very organized. It was decided that it would be best to have an overview picture of the equipment followed by device specific pictures. I tried a few programs to find the best way to do this, and in the end PowerPoint was the easiest and fastest way to do it. Using PowerPoint I was able to create a click-through method for the pictures to be viewed through. In this model, there is an overview picture of all the equipment or the network closet. From that picture, the support center can get to any highlighted equipment to get a closer view of the device. After I understood exactly what steps needed to be taken to recreate this I made a template, so that it could be recreated even faster. I feel this project was productive and useful for the betterment of customer support.
