Overview
The NAF Academy Framework is intended to set expectations for new and developing Academies, provide benchmarks for all Academies to assess progress, and encourage innovation over time in order to achieve high performance. The Academy Framework operates as an integrated self-assessment structure for Academies and the host high schools. The range of expectations detailed in each part of the framework serves to establish benchmarks against which Academy and school progress can be gauged.
NAF's Academy Framework is grounded in six core principles for improving America's education system, developed by the National High School Alliance. The Alliance is a partnership of over forty organizations representing a diverse cross section of perspectives and approaches, but sharing a common commitment to promoting the excellence, equity, and development of high school-age youth. These principles provide leaders at the national, state, district, school, and community levels with a common framework for building public will, developing supportive policies, and implementing the practices needed to transform America's high schools to serve all youth.
Through the Academy Framework, NAF's Academies deliver on these six core principles and provide a platform for broader school and district reform.
