Jesse Blackman AOHT Scholarship

The National Academy Foundation (NAF), in partnership with American Express, is pleased to offer the Jesse Blackman Scholarship to Academy of Hospitality & Tourism students nationwide. The Jesse Blackman Scholarship provides one recipient each year with a $1,500 financial award to use towards their undergraduate education in the fields of travel, hospitality and tourism.

The deadline for the scholarship application is March 31, 2008.
Eligible applicants must:
- Be a graduating senior from an Academy of Hospitality & Tourism, and be planning to pursue travel, hospitality and tourism related studies.
- Have earned a 3.0 GPA average or better in Academy courses
American Express created this scholarship in 1994 to honor the outstanding contributions made by Mr. Jesse K. Blackman. Mr. Blackman became involved in the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism program in 1989, when the Academy was still in its infancy. At that time, Mr. Blackman had joined the Travel Services Group at the American Express Company, working as the vice president of human resources. Prior to that position, Mr. Blackman had served the organization as the vice president, management education. Mr. Blackman joined the American Express company in 1980, and held several positions of increasing responsibility in training and development.
